Federal Communications Commission (FCC)

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has already given T-Mobile permission to release the next version of the Sidekick cellular-wireless handheld in the United States. Rumors of this device have been circulating for some time, but this is the first hard evidence on it to emerge. In its FCC filing, Sharp asked for 45 days of confidentiality on all information on this device, a strong indication that it will hit the market soon. This makes it clear that Sidekick 3 will be a breakthrough model for the Sidekick line as it will include many features not found in any previous model.

Sidekick 3 Rumors and buzz:
The Sidekick 3 navigation knob feels much like the mouse-nipple that sits in the middle of many laptop keyboards, except you don't really "push it" directionally, it seems to respond to you sliding your finger over it and it responds with a slipper sensitivity. It will definitely open up some possibilities for gaming though and it will allow for more PC-like navigation longer term on the web browser. It's different, it acts in a unique way. Call it a nub or a navi-knob. It's definitely NOT a trackball though."

The Sidekick III (Sidekick3) has been approved by the Federal Communications Commission, (FCC). Documents filed with the FCC on April 14th asked for 45 days of confidentiality for test setup photos, external photos, internal photos and the operation manual. Bluetooth and a 1.3 megapixel camera are confirmed in written discussion between Sharp and the FCC. The submission of the Sidekick III was submitted by Sharp Corporation, who will be manufacturing the device. SK3 was tested between February 27th and March 25th of this year and found in compliance with the standard Wireless PDA standard, FCC Part 15 Subpart C, Section 15.207, 15.247: 2006. One of the notes from the American Telecommunications Certification Body was that they can not keep the test setup photos of the device confidential, despite Sharp's request to keep things under wraps. Not everything about this device has changed. The Sidekick 3 will apparently resemble its predecessors' shape, including a color screen that pivots aside to reveal a miniature keyboard. However, there will be a joystick added to the right of the keyboard, in addition to the D-pad on the left side.
