So many Cell Phones to choose from!
How should I choose a new cell phone? Because there are so many cell phones and cell phone plans available it can be confusing choosing the best one! We recommend first that you decide on a cellphone carrier which provides the best coverage in the area where you do the most talking on your cell phone.

Carrier Coverage
Don't be intimidated by the wide selection of cell phone plans available. Focus first on cell phone coverage. Share with a neighbor or friend from work your cell phone buying and borrow his mobile phone and make a few test calls from it from locations which you frequent often. This is the most important part of buying a new plan and cell phone. Being careful at an early stage and focusing on reception and call quality is critical. Also, you should make sure to consideration your traveling habits and where you spend your time speaking on your cell phone. This would include your commutes, vacation spots, favorite shopping areas and restaurants

If you spend a lot of time abroad, for example, business trips in Europe you may want to consider T-Mobile or Cingular Wireless for GSM global cellphones. Verizon was recognized by Consumer Reports as having exceptional coverage while T-Mobile was awarded prizes by J.D. Powers and Associates in an independent customer satisfaction study, the highest ranking s of all the carriers in the areas of call quality and customer support.

One last mention about plans- be sure to do your cell phone homework before you decide on a plan. The easiest way is to check you old cell phone bills and count your minutes. Cingular plans have 'rollover' minutes so you don't end up wasting minutes that you don't use, you simply retain unused minutes for the following month. Consider another point- with most carriers you pay for incoming calls. It's worth checking out Sprint/Nextel's calling plans and finding out about free incoming calls.

CellPhones & Choices
Now it's time to focus on cell phone choice. There are a lot of 'free cell phones' on the market today which are great bargains. To be clear these phones are free after rebate with new carrier service plans. Make sure to carefully read the rebate instructions and to send all forms in accordingly.
We suggest checking out these free cell phone offers. Decide initially on the particular style or form you want. Weight is an important consideration and how the cell phone actually feels in you hand and in your pocket is very important. The last thing you want is to be stuck with a phone which is either to bulky or is so small it gets lost. This is a matter of personal taste.

Cell Phone Styles
In general, there are two main cell phone styles: flip-style phones and the 'candy-bar' style phone (with these cell phones, the keys are exposes all the time as opposed to the flip-style where the there is a cover that protects the phone. (Many Nextel phones are designed with extra durable casing to withstand harsh weather conditions and tough work conditions; some even meet strict military guide lines.) Each cell phone style has its advantage and disadvantage---this decision will come down to personal choice. Motorola cell phones and Verizon cell phones come in both of these styles with a variety of smart and fun features as well as cell phone accessories.

Cell Phones and Features
Don't be intimidated by the growing number of cell phone features that are being offered. Last year camera phones were the rage and this years the trend is toward phones with MP3 Players. We are also seeing a lot of new phone that feature on-demand TV and streaming video. We have many free cell phones and steep discounts available with all of these features. Think about the reason you are buying a phone and what your needs are. Are you buying the phones primarily for talking and not interested in all the bells and whistles?

There are three types of cell phones-basic, advanced and smart. The basic category consists of hand-helds that don't have a lot of features and are mainly for talking on. The advanced category is made up of phones with a variety of cutting edge multi-media features like digital cameras, MP3 players, messaging features, fast streaming video and on-demand TV and Bluetooth.

As time goes technology continues to improve and more of the basic cellphones will have these smart features built-in as well. If you consider yourself a smart user, power user or road warrior—consider a smartphone or PDA. These cell phones have QWERTY keyboards and Blackberry software (for cell phones)that allows you to manage your emails from your handset while you are on-the-go and therefore maximize your production.

A note about Bluetoooth: Comfort and convenience are key ingredients in making successful purchasing decisions. We highly recommend you consider a phone with Bluetooth, many are free! In the past Bluetooth was a feature only on 'advanced' cell phones, now we are witnessing a trend where many new free cell phones have Bluetooth built-in.
